Children In Need Network

Knowledge Development and Communication

Previously called the communications and networking programme, this programme has been broadened in line with CHIN's aspirations to become a center of knowledge on child rights and other issues affecting children in Zambia. The programme will focus on the following key areas;-

Developing and strengthening organisational learning and documentation
Improving and enhancing communication
Creating linkages
Raising awareness
Maintaining data

A unique feature of this programme is 'keeping children in the loop'. This comes in recognition of the fact that children need to be well informed for any meaningful child participation to take place. Organisational learning, data collection, management and dissemination are some of the key activities of the programme.

Children’s Media Desk

The children’s desk is a CHIN’s deliberate effort to provide children an opportunity to speak their minds out about issues affecting children in Zambia. It is a programme under Knowledge Development and Communication at CHIN Secretariat set apart for children’s activities.

What are the objectives of the children’s desk ?

  1. To provide children a forum for discussions on issues affecting them
  2. Provide a platform for child-to-child approaches that focus on developing a network of young persons who can take centre stage in advocacy
  3. Operate in the spirit of the convention of the Rights of the Child with special focus on child participation
  4. To provide communication skills to children and young people

Children's Caucus

CHIN in February 2009 embarked on the establishment of a Children's Caucus.

The Children's Caucus is a grouping of 28 children drawn from 14 member organizations that have come together to initiate a process of establishing a critical mass of child advocates who will spearhead child rights advocacy.
