 The Children In Need Network (CHIN) is a registered national network of NGOs, CBOs and FBOs working to uphold and promote the rights of children in Zambia. The organization has the following vacancies to be filled in immediately.

 JOB TITLE                :                        EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

 REPORTING TO     :                        THE BOARD CHAIRPERSON

 CORE DUTIES         : 

  • Overall coordinating, planning, implementing, service delivery and monitoring of CHIN work.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Government, Donors and other stakeholders.
  • Recruit and manage personnel at the secretariat in liaison with and on behalf of the Board
  • Develop project proposals, identify and maintain prospective sources of funding.
  • Develop a work plan and budget and prepare budget reports on utilization of CHIN funds
  • Represent the CHIN Secretariat at the Executive Committee and Board levels and take minutes of the Meetings.
  • Maintaining and sustaining CHIN’s good image – Ambassador
  • Sustain child rights based approach programming
  • Identify, develop, undertake research, carry out lobby and advocacy
  • Chief Advisor to the Executive Committee on matters of Secretariat functions
  • Perform any other duties that the Board may assign to him/her from time to time. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND APTITUDES: 

1.                   Possess a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or other development oriented qualifications

2.                   Should have a minimum of  five years work experience in a relevant institution

3.                   Traceable experience in project management, project document preparation, conception and management of research work, computer literacy and variable working knowledge of financial systems.

4.                   Should have good interpersonal skills, hard working and able to meet tight deadlines

5.                   Own accommodation within Lusaka

6.                   Sober habits with traceable references

JOB TITLE                            :                        SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

DEPARTMENT                    :                        FINANCE 

REPORTING TO                  :                        EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: 

The job holder shall provide financial advice to the Executive Director on optimal utilization of finance, human and material resources.  He or She will report on the financial performance of the institution.  He or She should source donor funds and account for such funds.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·                      Preparation of Annual Budgets for presentation to the Board of Directors

·                      Manage and monitor cash flows and provide reports on the financial health of the organization through an agreed schedule with management and the board.

·                      Ensure that the organization complies with all statutory financial obligations including taxes and liaise with relevant authorities in  this respect.

·                      Devise accounting controls and systems and monitor the same to ensure their effectiveness and where necessary review them as may be required

·                      To supervise, monitor and support the accountant in the discharge of his duties

·                      Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for management and partners.

·                      Prepare and consolidate all programme and admin budgets

·                      Liaise and support external auditors to undertake thorough annual audits and submit final reports in a timely manner

·                      Facilitate the development of a business plan and sustainability framework for CHIN and monitor its implementation, reporting regularly to management, board and partners on progress/challenges.

·                      Perform any other duty as may be assigned to him/her from time to time by the Executive Director

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Full ACCA, CIMA, Bachelor of Accountancy Degree or Equivalent qualifications with five years post qualification working experience.
  • He or She should be conversant with accounting packages such as Pastel, quick books etc.
  • Must be registered ZICA member and have current practicing license.
  • Working experience with NGOs or International agencies and handling of donor funds will be an added advantage.

JOB TITLE                :                        ACCOUNTANT 

DEPARTMENT       :                        FINANCE 

REPORTING TO     :                        SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To effectively provide accounting information on time for Management Decision making process and to keep proper financial records for Audit purposes, the holder of this job shall perform the following functions  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·          Handling of all receipts and payments

·          Undertaking duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Finance Manager

·          Manage financial records in a retrieval manner

·          Produce  monthly bank reconciliations for all the accounts of the organization

·          Handling of all receipts and payments and ensure timely retirements from staff in accordance with stipulated guidelines.

·          Participate in monthly Management Meetings

·          Ensure timely submission of statutory financial commitments

·          Management of CHIN bank accounts and serve as bank agent for the organization. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Natech Diploma Holder with at least five years working experience or
  • ACCA, CIMA Intermediate levels with two years’ work experience. 
  • He or She should be conversant with accounting packages such as Pastel, quick books etc.
  • Must be registered ZICA member and have current practicing license.
  • Working experience with NGOs or International agencies and handling of donor funds will be an added advantage.
